Absorbent like the big brands - without the petroleum plastic, irritation, or sweaty discomfort.

Designed with a leakproof barrier to lock in blood, these period pads are made with a breathable 100% organic cotton topsheet.

No SAPs. No dyes. No synthetic fragrances. No petroleum plastics. Just a clinically proven, irritation-free period.

And when you’re done? These pads break down in a year - even in landfill.

Ingredients

Our pads are made with a 100% organic cotton topsheet and an FSC-certified cellulose absorbent core. That means no fragrances, no dyes, no petroleum plastics - just what works.

Here’s what’s in our pads:

  • Topsheet: 100% GOTS certified organic cotton
  • Absorbent core: FSC cellulose
  • Leakproof back sheet: cornstarch
  • Adhesive: non-toxic, latex free and rosin free
  • Waxed release paper
  • Tissue wrapper
How to use it
  1. Unwrap and stick – Peel off the backing and press the pad into your underwear, sticky side down.
  2. Wrap the wings – Fold the wings around the sides of your underwear to keep it snug and secure.
  3. Change every 4–6 hours – Or sooner if it feels full.
  4. Bin it, don’t flush it – Wrap used pads and pop them in the bin. Pads can’t be flushed.

100% LEAKPROOF WINGS

A pad that actually works.

100% leakproof wings.

Tired of pads that claim to be absorbent but let you down when it matters most? Ours are engineered to lock in blood and prevent leakage around the edges. From commuting to couch days, you’re covered.

Zero petroleum plastic.

Why we don’t use SAPs.

Most mainstream pads (and plenty of so-called “eco” ones) rely on Super Absorbent Polymers (SAPs): synthetic beads made from petroleum-based plastic that soak up fluid.

But they don’t biodegrade and they can leach chemicals like acrylamide into the environment. You deserve better.

That’s why we use an organic cotton topsheet, an FSC-certified cellulose core, and no SAPs. Ever.

No greenwashing. Just full transparency.

Frequently asked questions.

Ingredients

What do you mean by 'plastic-free'?

When we say plastic-free, we mean free from petroleum-based plastics like PE or PP.

In our pads and liners we use a plant-based biopolymer made from cornstarch (PLA), which is compostable and biodegradable (certified to EN 13432 and ASTM standards), non-toxic in both production and end of life, and completely biobased.

While PLA is technically a polymer, it is not petroleum-derived and is accepted under leading ecological standards such as GOTS.

We clearly disclose its use and independently validate all our claims to ensure transparency and compliance with the most rigorous sustainability standards.

Do Mooncup pads contain Super Absorbent Polymers?

Nope! SAPs are oil-based plastics that absorb moisture but can leave your period pad feeling soggy - and they never biodegrade.

We use FSC-certified cellulose instead, for high absorbency without the petroleum plastic.

What are Mooncup pads made from?

Our pads are made with a 100% organic cotton topsheet and an FSC-certified cellulose absorbent core. That means no fragrances, no dyes, no petroleum plastics - just what works.

Here’s what’s in our pads:

  • Topsheet: 100% GOTS certified organic cotton
  • Absorbent core: FSC cellulose
  • Leakproof back sheet: cornstarch
  • Adhesive: non-toxic, latex free and rosin free
  • Waxed release paper
  • Tissue wrapper

Are Mooncup pads suitable for sensitive skin?

Yes! Our pads are clinically proven to prevent irritation and made without the common irritants found in mainstream period products.

That means no fragrances, no dyes, no chlorine, and zero petroleum plastic - just breathable, irritation-free period care.

Are Mooncup pads vegan and cruelty free?

Yes! Mooncup Pads are vegan, cruelty-free, and free from animal-derived materials.

How absorbent are Mooncup pads?

Just as absorbent as the leading brand - but without the petroleum plastics, SAPs, or hidden irritants. Our specially designed leakproof barriers lock in blood and prevent leaks around the edges, keeping you protected all day.

We independently measured Mooncup pads against the leading brand using Circana UK total market data from July 2021 and July 2024.

How to use

How do I dispose of my pads?

You can dispose of Mooncup Pads in your regular waste bin. Unlike mainstream pads, they won’t linger in landfill for centuries. Our pads break down within one year, even in landfill conditions.

This has been verified through testing based on ASTM D5511. Biodegradation rates may vary depending on disposal location and environmental conditions.

How often should I change my pads?

Although this does depend on your flow (e.g. if you’re experiencing a particularly heavy day) a good rule of thumb is every 4-6 hours.

Can I swim wearing my Mooncup pads?

No, pads aren’t ideal for swimming, as they will just absorb the water and then become ineffective at absorbing menstrual fluid. Stick to tampons or menstrual cups when it comes to hitting the beach.
