How to survive your period at a festival

How to survive your period at a festival

Festival season is supposed to feel spontaneous.

One drink turns into five.
One stage turns into another.
Someone says “let’s stay for the headliner” and suddenly it’s midnight and your phone is on 3%.

And then your period shows up too.

Which can turn the entire thing into a logistical exercise very quickly.

Because festival periods aren’t just periods.

They’re:

  • 14-hour days
  • questionable toilets
  • heatwaves
  • nowhere to sit
  • no privacy
  • changing in a portaloo while trying not to touch literally anything

That’s exactly why festivals are one of the biggest parts of Unstoppable Summer.

Because you shouldn’t have to sit this one out just because your period arrived at the same time as your ticket confirmation.

Pack smarter, not heavier

The best festival period setup is the one that makes you think about your period the least.

That means products that can actually keep up with long days, movement and limited toilet access.

Our pads, tampons and liners are breathable enough for hot summer days without adding to the sweaty, uncomfortable feeling festivals already provide for free.

And our Mooncup Original was practically made for festivals.

Up to 12 hours protection means less changing, less panic and significantly fewer interactions with festival toilets.

Which honestly feels priceless.

A few other things worth throwing in your bag:

  • spare underwear
  • hand sanitiser
  • pain relief
  • wipes or tissues
  • a refillable water bottle

Tiny things. Massive difference.

Festival toilets are the real villain here

Let’s be honest.

Half the stress of having your period at a festival isn’t even your period itself.

It’s the toilets.

The queues.
The lack of soap.
The heat.
The “I’ll just hold it” decisions that always come back to haunt you later.

That’s why reliable protection matters so much more at festivals.

Because the less often you have to deal with period admin, the more freedom you actually have to enjoy yourself.

No timing your entire day around bathroom access.
No leaving sets early.
No hovering awkwardly because you’re worried about leaking.

Just getting on with it.

Dress for comfort, not punishment

Festival outfits are important. We respect that.

But if you’re already bloated, overheated or cramping, wearing something deeply uncomfortable for twelve straight hours may not be the life-enhancing experience TikTok promised.

Breathable fabrics and comfortable fits can make a huge difference during your period, especially in hot weather.

And despite what your period anxiety might tell you:
you are still allowed to wear the outfit.

Even white.
Even tiny shorts.
Even the thing you nearly talked yourself out of.

Stay hydrated

Festivals and dehydration go hand in hand.

Periods and dehydration also go hand in hand.

Put them together and suddenly headaches, fatigue, bloating and cramps can feel much worse.

Water genuinely matters here.

Especially if you’re:

  • drinking alcohol
  • walking all day
  • standing in the heat
  • dancing for six consecutive hours because your favourite artist unexpectedly brought out a guest

Which, fair enough.

Pace yourself

Unstoppable Summer is not about forcing yourself to become the hardest-working soldier at the festival.

If your body needs rest, take it.

Sit down. Find shade. Eat something substantial. Skip a set if you need to.

Sometimes the most radical thing you can do at a festival is admit you’re overheating and need electrolytes.

If your period feels unmanageable, pay attention to that

There’s a difference between your period being mildly inconvenient… and your symptoms genuinely impacting your ability to function.

If you regularly experience:

  • severe pain
  • extremely heavy bleeding
  • dizziness or exhaustion
  • symptoms that stop you living normally

it’s worth speaking to a GP.

Because while periods can absolutely be annoying sometimes, suffering through symptoms that disrupt your life shouldn’t just be accepted as normal.

Your period shouldn’t shrink your summer

That’s really what this comes down to.

The best period care isn’t the kind you constantly notice.

It’s the kind that lets you stay in the moment.

One more song.
One more drink.
One more stupid decision you’ll laugh about later.

No checking.
No panic.
No sitting this one out.
