Mooncup partners with Settle for Fund a Cycle

When we created Fund a Cycle, we weren’t looking for a charity to “support.”
We were looking for a partner who understood the real barriers to menstrual health — the ones built by systems, not individuals.

That’s why we chose Settle.

Settle are a charity tackling a leading cause of homelessness by supporting care-experienced young people as they move into their first home.

This moment — the transition out of care and into independence — is one of the most fragile, high-risk points in a young person’s life. And it’s one the system routinely underestimates.

These young people are navigating instability, limited support, financial pressure, and a complete lack of access to basic essentials, including period care. And when your life has been defined by instability, even your period becomes something you have to cope with, not something you’re supported through.

What Settle actually does

Settle don’t patch holes.

They work to overcome the systemic barriers that push care-experienced young people into homelessness in the first place.

Their approach is simple but powerful:

  • They focus on building young people’s strengths, not scrutinising their “weaknesses.”

  • They support the key transition into a first home, where most support systems quietly fall away.

  • They ensure the needs of young people are prioritised above all else.

  • They create a foundation of stability — the kind that makes dignity and access possible.

This is long-term, person-first support. Not crisis management. Not short-term fixes. Real, practical work that keeps young people from falling through the cracks.

Why their work matters for period care

Everyone deserves period care.

But for too many young people leaving care, that simply isn’t the reality.

When you’re moving into your first home without a safety net, the list of things you need to survive is endless: rent, food, transport, heating, toiletries — and period care often becomes a luxury you can’t stretch to.

This isn’t about “poor planning” or “bad budgeting.” It’s about systemic inequality. It’s about entering adulthood with fewer resources, fewer choices, and higher stakes.

Settle understands this.

They see the full picture — not just the product someone needs, but the environment they’re trying to survive in.

That’s why they’re the right partner for Fund a Cycle. Because access to period care doesn’t mean much unless you also have stability, dignity, and support.

Why this partnership matters

Break the Cycle called out the silence, the shame, and the bad science that have shaped menstrual health for generations.

Fund a Cycle takes that energy outward — towards people who are too often excluded from the menstrual health conversation entirely.

For care-experienced young people, the cycle they’re stuck in isn’t cramps or misinformation. It’s the cycle of instability, of limited support, of not being able to access period care at all.

By partnering with Settle, we’re helping to break that cycle.

Because it’s one thing to dismantle the systems that hold us back. It’s another to help dismantle the ones that shut people out completely.

This is about access and dignity

Settle’s work aligns with the heart of our movement: A belief that access to menstrual health shouldn’t depend on circumstance.

Everyone — no matter their upbringing, income, or the support they’ve been given — deserves period care that’s safe, reliable, and rooted in dignity.

That’s why we’re proud to partner with Settle. Not as charity. But as part of a movement committed to breaking cycles no one should ever have to live through.
